EcoContact 6

The next standard enhanced by German technology.

The new generation of Green Chili™ brings the newest and most advanced compounding technologies to the Eco tyre line:

Maximum fuel efficiency thanks to improved component geometry and efficient silica distribution.
The EcoContact™ 6 strikes an optimal balance between tyre size and component distribution. The high-tech compound provides robust connections between the silica and the rubber. This allows an optimal adaptation to varying road conditions, which ultimately improves the tyre’s rolling resistance and fuel consumption.

Enhanced mileage due to the new Green Chili™ 2.0 compound.
The advanced Green Chili™ 2.0 compound adapts to the road surface, which leads to a reduction in the rubber loss throughout its life cycle. As a result, mileage is increased.

Optimised grip and handling experience.
The EcoContact™ 6 offers a tailor-made pattern, resulting in the best compromise between dry and wet performance. It further increases the safety in handling situations such as lane changes. And due to its innovative asymmetric rib and sipe geometry, the tyre always keeps the contact with the road.

EU Tyre Label and Efficiency Classes

The European Union has introduced the EU Tyre Label by Regulation (No. 1222/2009) identically and bindingly for all EU member states. It applies to passenger car tyres, light commercial vehicle tyres and heavy commercial vehicle tyres produced after 01.07.2012.

Three different areas are tested: rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise the tyre makes on the road.

The following are not affected by the EU Tyre Label: retreaded tyres, professional off-road tyres, racing tyres, tyres with additional devices to improve traction such as spiked tyres, T-type emergency tyres, special tyres for fitting to vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990, tyres with a maximum authorised speed of 80 km/h, tyres for rims with a nominal diameter of 254 mm or less or 635 mm or more.

With this regulation, the European Union is pursuing the goal of promoting economic and ecological efficiency in road traffic as well as increasing road safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, granting consumers more product transparency and at the same time serving as an active decision-making aid.

Already during the incorporation, experts criticise the fact that the EU Tyre Label unfortunately only shows a few product characteristics. Apart from rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise, which are the main focus of EU tyre labelling, tyres have much more important and safety-relevant product characteristics, such as aquaplaning properties, driving stability, service life, braking properties on dry and wet roads, behaviour in wintry conditions, etc.

Tyre manufacturers point out that test results from various institutions and journals remain an important information medium for the end consumer. These tests usually focus on further safety-relevant product characteristics besides the EU standard qualifications for tyre labelling, which are always important for the final customer.

Terrible tyres for the British climate, mine only lasted 20 months and they needed changing, not very good in the wet, weak thin sidewalls full of dents, definitely not worth the money they charge for them, and skimp on Tread to win Rolling Resistance tests, couldn't wait to get them off my car, never buy another with that crap on it
21.12.2023 from Jens
Good tire, bought with a higher load rating so compound is a little harder. In wet conditions with road grim, the tire locks faster than expected . Very little wear. And I expect it to last long on the electric car. Tire is good on wet condition and has good grip and traction.
14.03.2022 from Lauren Turner
By far the best tyre for performance, grip, wear and price that I've bought in a long time. When it come to replace them I will definitely be purchasing Continental EcoContact 6 again for absolute peace mind. Unfortunately we don't get a lot of snow here in the south of England but in all other weather conditions the tyres have proven to be confidence boosting and reassuring when driving my car knowing that i have a good set of boots fitted.
